Titan Firmware V1.23

Drivers and control app for Atlas, Titan and Lyra V2.05 Windows 8 and 10 64-bit

Instructions

The download file is a windows 64 bit executable (.exe) which installs the drivers and control panel application for Lyra, Titan and Atlas on Windows 8 or 10. Simply run it and follow instructions to install the control panel application. You do not need to uninstall the previous version first.

IMPORTANT: Generally, you should upgrade the driver/control panel software and the device firmware to versions downloaded at the same time. Different combinations of driver and firmware version may be incompatible. The firmware version is reported in the top bar of the new black Control app. This control panel application is also used to update the firmware. Always update the Control Panel software first before performing the separate firmware update process. Please see the Firmware Loading Guide for details of the procedure.

The v2.05 release has the following upgrades compared to the previous 2.03 release

Updated drivers for Windows. A Windows update had changed the behaviour of Windows WDM, which had caused some issues trying to play from Windows apps – Windows Media player or i.e. from a browser. The new drivers fix these problems.
Note that WASAPI exclusive mode is no longer supported – if your application needs to change the sample rate when playing, you should use the ASIO driver.

The ASIO driver has two fixes:-

  1. A fix for possible Studio 1 problem when using Mixdown in Studio 1 – Studio 1 may have hung.
  2. A fix for a possible inability to initialise the Lyra/Titan/Atlas ASIO driver on PCs with many Cores.

This issue has been seen with Ableton, Studio 1 with Rewire, and with Sequoia with particular settings, and it relates to how the DAW app sets up priority threads. With CPUs with many cores, the DAW is taking the maximum number of priority threads, which meant Lyra, Titan or Atlas could not take one. The ASIO driver no longer relies on using a priority thread if there are no more available.

If your unit already has the 1.17 firmware installed from updating to v2.03 Control panel, then there is no need to update the firmware, but if you are updating from the old grey Control app, you should update to the new firmware but only after updating the Control Panel first.

Compared to the 1.24 release, the new packages include the new black Control app, as well as support on Atlas and Titan for the MDIO-Dante module.

The 64bit v2.05 installer packages for PC include:- Control Panel v2.0.3, PC Driver v2.0.6496, Firmware for Lyra v1.17.6486 and for Titan and Atlas v1.17.6484, Verifile Checker v1.01.

Control App and Firmware for Atlas, Titan and Lyra for Mac V2.03

Control Panel App Installer for Mac OS X 10.11 and above for Lyra, Titan and Atlas. Zipped .pkg file.

IMPORTANT: Generally, you should upgrade the Control panel software and the device firmware to versions downloaded at the same time. Different combinations of driver and firmware version may be incompatible. The firmware version is reported in the top bar of the new black Control app. This control panel application is also used to update the firmware. Always update the Control Panel software first before performing the separate firmware update process. Please see the Firmware Loading Guide for details of the firmware loading procedure.

The v2.03 release has the following upgrades compared to the previous 1.24 release…

  • Brand New Control app:-
    • New “darker” design.
    • The window is resizeable to display better on higher resolution screens.
    • Supports and works with the MDIO-Dante module
    • A small change to display that shows mixer tabs as “greyed out” when they are disabled.
    • Atlas firmware has a fix for MIDI
  • The firmware for Lyra, Titan and Atlas has a fix for a possible problem where audio I/O may be corrupt when Standby was switched off then back on again too quickly.
  • Support in the firmware for the MDIO-Dante module in Titan and Atlas units that have it fitted. The new Control Panel can operate across the Dante network.

The v2.03 installer package for Mac includes:- Control Panel v2.0.3, and Firmware for Lyra v1.17.6486 and for Titan and Atlas v1.17.6484, Verifile Checker 1.01 (6148).

If you need to use Atlas, Titan or Lyra on an older version of Mac OS than 10.11, please use version 1.24 which will work on 10.5 and above or contact our Tech Support who may be able to supply a v2 Control panel installer for some older Mac OS versions.

MDIO-PTHDX Firmware V1.02 – READ IMPORTANT NOTICE

VERY IMPORTANT

It’s very important to check that you have the correct version of the Control Panel software before proceeding with the MDIO firmware update. The incorrect version will render the unit unusable!

On a PC, the software should be 1.15 (Dec 2016) or higher – you can check the version number in Windows Control Panel / Apps and Features (or Programs..). Find “Prism Sound USB Audio Interface software” and the version is displayed.

On a Mac, the software package required is 1.24 (Aug. 2018) or higher. You can check the version of the Control Panel by clicking on the App menu bar at the top of the screen – select “Prism Sound USB Audio”, then “About Prism Sound Control App”. The version of the Control Panel app should be reported as 1.16 or higher, 1.24 is the version of the software package which contains a number of elements which all have different version numbers.

NOTE:- the Titan and Atlas units have firmware which may be updated. Also, the MDIO modules themselves have separate firmware which may be updated from time to time. The main unit firmware and MDIO module firmware are in different files and are uploaded separately.

The Firmware Loading Guide has details of the firmware loading procedure. Updating the firmware for the MDIO-PTHDX uses the exact same procedure. When you select an MDIO-PTHDX firmware file, the bootloader software will recognise it, and will change the Firmware: field of its display to show the existing firmware in the MDIO-PTHDX module (where previously it was showing the firmware version of the main unit).

IMPORTANT: You should upgrade the driver/control panel software and the main unit’s firmware to versions downloaded at the same time – do this before uploading the MDIO-PTHDX firmware. Different combinations of driver and firmware version may be incompatible. To work out what version of the main unit firmware is already loaded, see this FAQ.

Version 1.02 MDIO-PTHDX firmware fixes a problem with possible clicking on audio outputs when the Pro Tools software starts or closes.
