Hu Xiaohai, a musician, has carefully assembled a series of top professional equipment in his newly-built music studio, bringing unprecedented possibilities for music creation and production.
The new Prism Sound Dream ADA-128 plays a key role in new studio, guaranteeing exceptional performance for audio signal conversion and processing. Hu Xiaohai explained, “during comparative tests with other similar products, the ADA-128 demonstrated unmatched advantages in both functionality and sound quality. The Dream ADA-128’s chassis, with its multiple expansion interface cards, offers remarkable flexibility. It features 16 I/O slots and 4 host slots in a 2U rack space, with four independent word clock domains. Currently, it includes 32-channel analog input and output cards connected to the analog mixing console, two 8-channel AES cards linked to the multi-channel digital effects processer, and an immersive sound monitoring speaker system, with ample expansion room remaining. Routing between I/O interfaces and the mini DigiLink host card is straightforward and flexible—once set up, it’s a one-time effort. Additionally, configuring and monitoring operational status can be done via a web browser GUI anytime.
Previously, Hu Xiaohai used Solid State Logic Matrix SuperAnalogue DAW control mixer, this time he upgrades to an SSL Origin “In-Line” console for the new studio, which bringing an ultimate experience to multitrack recording and mixing. This Origin featured excellent PureDrive preamp, classic “242” EQ with HPF, large and small fader with 0dB bypass, and flexible routing control functions, become a powerful assistant for Hu Xiaohai and his team in the music production process.
The control room of the new studio is much larger than the previous one. The stereo speaker has also been upgraded from the original 1237A to the main monitoring 1234A with dual 12-inch woofers. It complements the 7.1.4 immersive monitoring system composed of the three-way coaxial 8341A, the smart active two-way 8340A, and the 15-inch low-frequency DSP speaker 7380A. These provide a powerful, all-round, and immersive accurate auditory experience for music production. Whether making stereo music or immersive sound works, they can ensure that the final audio effect meets our artistic pursuit and professional standards.
With the support of DMT (Digital Media Technology Co., Ltd., a Prism Sound distributor, Dolby-certified partner and pro-audio system integrator in China) in the precise design in the early stage, equipment selection, and strict tuning in the later stage, YFY Studio has successfully been certified as a Dolby Atmos Music Studio. This honor marks that YFY Studio has reached the international leading level in the field of audio production. Hu Xiaohai has deep roots and extensive experience in the music field. Since 1990, he has co-founded several renowned Chinese rock and jazz bands in Chengdu and Beijing as a bass player. He has participated in the creation and recording of over ten albums with these bands and performed at dozens of large-scale concerts. Since establishing the YFY Music Studio in Chengdu in October 2002, he has produced arrangements and recordings for more than one hundred albums, and composed or produced over three thousand musical works including individual songs, dance music, film scores, and TVC jingles.
